An 8 mile walk through the National Forest & Ashby Canal.
This is an 8 mile figure of 8 walk through the National Forest starting near the Leicestershire village of Miora. The first loop of the walk will be approximately 4.5 miles and will include a section along the disused Nuneaton to Ashby Railway and the bridal path through the woods near Castle Gresley, the walk will then pass Albert Lake before returning to the start point where we will stop for lunch.
The second loop of the walk will be in the opposite direction to the first loop and will be approximately 3.5 miles long and includes a section along the Ashby Canal with views of the Miora Furnace before joining a different section of the disused Nuneaton to Ashby railway line before passing through a nature park back to the start point.
The majority of the walk will be along a mixture paved walkways and Cycle and Bridal paths mostly over a flat terrain. It will be possible to just walk one of the loops on the day, please let the walk leader know before hand so timings can be arranged.
While this is not a camping weekend there is a campsite a short distance from the walk start point where the walk leader will be staying for the weekend. If anyone wishes to camp please book direct with the campsite.
