Bredon Hill is one of the most dominant hills in the West Midlands and a prominent landmark from the M5 south of Worcester. This is a walk that starts in the picturesque village of Overbury, a quintessential Cotswold village, ascends through the Overbury Estate to the Iron age hill fort and Parson's Folly at the top, before descending again via the outskirts of Kemerton.
The hill is geologically part of the Cotswolds, but lies, isolated from the rest of the range in the Vale of Evesham. It featured in an A. E. Housman poem (“On Bredon Hill”).
There is a gradual ascent to the relatively plateau at the top and a gentle drop on the return.
Weather permitting, there should be amazing views in all directions from the top: the Cotswolds to the south; along the Vale of Evesham towards Edge Hill to the east: the Malvern Hills and beyond into Wales to the west.
