A small group of us began the weekend on Friday going to Piet Oudolf’s Hauser and Wirth garden in the morning, and East Lambrook in the afternoon.
I think we were all a little lukewarm about Oudolf’s garden. Very interesting prairie planting, but being corralled onto gravel paths with railings, combined with the absence of any containing wall or building, left some of us feeling the garden was a bit municipal. East Lambrook was a delightful contrast,. Wild yet contained, with wonderful topiaries and herbaceous planting, and lots of cosy benches for us to sit back and chat. A lovely day, all in all.
