Gardens: Private guided tour by Head Gardener of St. Fagans Castle Formal Gardens near Cardiff

Event Details

St. Fagans Castle, a magnificent late-16th-century manor house is surrounded by formal gardens that are a very well kept secret! Many visitors to the Folk Park are blissfully unaware of their existence. Originally laid out in 1902, they feature terraced gardens, an Italianate garden, a recreated 1899 Rosery, and a traditional knot garden. During our tour we will also see fish ponds, fountains, a mulberry grove, vinery and an exquisite Rosery.

The Castle is a Grade 1 listed building and one of the finest Elizabethan manor houses in Wales.

Following our tour, you are welcome to join us for lunch on the onsite cafeteria or feel free to bring a picnic.  We may then explore the Folk Park.

Dogs welcome on short, non-extendable leads – not permitted inside any buildings, including cafes.

Tour cost is £5. Free entry to Grounds, which also includes the Folk Park. See below re parking fees.
