Our walk begins in the historic market town of Atherstone. Known in the past as a ‘Hatting Town’ and now making the most of its geographic position in logistics.  After a short walk through the town via the old Roman road of ‘Watling Street’ we’ll make our way up on to the edge of the ridge to the west of the town and then on to Hartshill Hayes Country Park and Mancetter Quarry. Weather permitting there’s a great view to be enjoyed at our lunch stop before we return to Atherstone via the Coventry Canal towpath.
