S. Mids - Gloucester and Robinswood Hill

Event Details

The walk takes us quickly through the smarter southern suburbs of Gloucester to Robinswood Hill which is a large park with a cafe and toilets. We will spend about 1.5 hours in the park to include an optional trip to the top of the hill which involves a climb of 625 ft ,steep and possibly slippery in places and lunch. You should be rewarded with great views of Gloucester and Cheltenham to the north, the River Severn to the west, the Cotswolds to the east and fine countryside to the south.

We return to Gloucester City centre via the canal , docks and cathedral to the station by 4.30pm with a stop at the Regal pub for those wishing to have a social chat at the end. The pub is 5 mins from the train and bus station.

Walking boots are advisable if you intend to climb the hill which is quite strenuous with walking sticks helpful. Otherwise the walk is an easy 7 miles.

This is a walk of great variation taking in the historic areas of Gloucester on the way back. To quote Tom, "It will inspire people to move to Gloucester".
