The Physicians of Myddfai
Come and rummage in the hedgerows, like the medieval physicians of Myddfai.
Walk starts at the visitors centre in this picturesque village.
Moderately/strenuous 8-9 mile walk, which can be muddy in places. We ascend to about 500m, so appropriate warm clothing and footwear should be worn**.
**A lot of this walk is on open moorland so please make sure you have plenty of warm layers and waterproof clothing. After recent rain, there is running water in places and some mud so waterproof boots recommended.
A steep climb at the start gives stunning views over the Brecon Beacons and into Carmarthenshire from Mynydd Myddfai. We will attempt to find the Physicians Well before descending to Usk reservoir.
Finally walking through woods, past Roman remains, back to Myddfai.
There are a few stiles.
***It's really important that everyone who is coming on this walk signs up as an attendee, as to avoid a very long walk along the road at the end, we will arrange for a few cars to be in the lane as we come down off the mountain.
Please bring a packed lunch.
Refreshments in the café at the end of the walk----but please note, the cafe changes it's closing time from 1st November so it may not be open when we return.
