
Challenge walk: Wendover and the Chilterns 11 miles
This is a 11 mile circular 'endurance' challenge with total ascent 1500 +

The Chiltern Hills were designated as an AONB in 1965. They are rich in wildlife, ranging from red kites to Duke of Burgundy butterflies. Habitats include endangered chalk grassland, farmland and many acres of woodlands (dominated by beech trees.) Some magnificent vistas of the Vale of Aylesbury and several incredible properties including the our PM country estate "Chequers."
Minimum 130 metres to 270 metres. Total ascent approx. 1500 metres
Wendover is a popular market town due to being located at the base of the Northern Chilterns which makes making it a popular town for walkers, cyclists and adventurous individuals.
Emphasis: this is a strenous walk and requires a fitness level above average. It is not a gentle country stroll!
Wear sturdy boots and correct clothing for the weather. Parts of the route will be under cover and other parts will be exposed.
Bring packed lunch, lots of water, and something to sit on. At the start point, a local shop will be open from which to buy lunch, if you need it. Lunch will be adjacent Hampden House.
The start part is accessible by public transport. Toilets are available near the start point.
A optional pub stop in Cadsden on route, and possibly an optional pub stop at the end of the walk (to be confirmed).
And, remember, bring lots of water.
