Glasgow to Pitlochry Cycling Weekend
A linear cycling route between Glasgow and the Perthshire town of Pitlochry with an overnight stop in Callander.
Our route will mostly follow NCN Route 7 and there are quite a lot of sections on forest tracks which are not suited to a lightweight road bike, although a mountain bike is not necessary. We may divert on to tarmac roads for the final section to Callander, which will shorten the distance and make for a faster route.
The route on Saturday leaves Glasgow in a westerly direction to Alexandria then cuts north to Aberfoyle. The road route then crosses the Duke's Pass to Callander. On Sunday we climb out up Glen Ogle into the Tay valley, which we follow before heading up the Tummel to Pitlochry. Despite the valley route, it is hilly!
Distances are around 45 miles (75 km) for Saturday and 55 miles (95 km) for Sunday.
