Lliw Reservoirs Loop – close to Swansea and M4/J46
With a sense of remoteness that belies it’s proximity to Swansea and the M4, this beautiful eight mile moderate walk is centred around the two Lliw reservoirs that were built to provide Swansea with water. It takes in a nature trail with carvings of local wildlife, waterside and woodland paths, fields and steady ascents to open moorland that (weather permitting) offers fine views to Gower and the Bannau Brycheiniog. We will pass close to the former home of a scientist who was world famous in the 1920s and see remains of the area’s industrial past.
It will be muddy and exposed in places and there may be some brambles close to paths so warm clothing (including long sleeves and trousers) and robust walking boots are needed. If the weather is bad, we may take a shorter lower level route instead.
Cafe option at end of walk - closes at 4pm.
