Borehamwood
A circular walk, shaped like an uneven dumbbell, of 9.25 miles from Borehamwood to Shenley. An intruiging mix of urban, village and managed countryside. A rare chance to see the design of a "London overspill" new town of the immediate post-war era.
Features include Borehamwood Shenley Road (the high street), studios where the BBC films Eastenders, a local nature reserve, Shenley village, Shenley Park, woodland, a modern church, Watling Chase Timberland Trail and a railway.
Terrain includes pavement, bridleway and field edge. Throughout the entire walk, there will be a lot of slippery mud.
Bring water, packed lunch and something to sit on. Wear sturdy boots.
Unusually for Herts GOC, there is no planned pub visit at the end of this walk.
