Captain Cooks Monument, Woodland and Moors.
A mixture of woodland and moor walking on the N Yorks moors.
From our start point we climb on the Cleveland Way to Captain Cooks Monument which stands high on the moors above Great Ayton passing a memorial to an RAF plane that crashed here in 1940 on the way.
Some pleasant woodland walking follows with a descent followed by another climb back up to the moors.
From here the route is relatively flat until we pass close to Highcliffe Nab, a rocky outcrop on the edge of the moors. A few more minor ups and downs follow before Roseberry Topping comes into view,
It is then flat with a descent down stone steps takes us back to our start point.
There are great views throughout on a good day, unfortunately as you will see from photo's it was pretty murky when we pre-walked it so hoping for better on the day.
