On a beautiful sunny morning 15 of us met up at Hounstout car park in Kingston. 4 members chose the shorter route led by Chris and 11 members the longer route lead by Laurence, The longer group walked through the plantation passing Quarry Wood and the Obelisk with views down to Encombe House and fantastic views along the Jurassic Coast.
On reaching the cliff top at Hounstout we turned left to descend 130 very steep steps down to the valley floor were we met up with the other group who had walked down the valley. We then continued down the valley to the slipway at Chapman’s Pool for our lunch stop. Returning up part of the valley to the hamlet of Hill Bottom we all marched straight up the hill through the fields to Kingston passing through Kingston church yard back to our cars. 14 of us then retreated to the leader’s house, Vue Plaisant, for a delicious high tea in the garden.
