A circular walk from Gunnerside in Swaledale. We leave Gunnerside on a narrow climbing (not steep) metalled road which we follow for about a mile. We then turn onto a wide track which we will follow for the rest of the walk. We climb for another mile then the track levels out and we will stop for a coffee break and to take in the stunning views. After a bit of walking on the more or less level we climb again then level out to circle Black Hill with amazing views over Upper Swaledale and beyond and have our lunch break. There is a short climb after lunch then level again with a view of Moss Dam before we start to descend and walk above Gunnerside Gill with evidence of the regions lead mining history still to be seen in the bottom of the Gill. We eventually join the same road we started on for our final descent back to our start point
