This event is a 5-mile linear walk from St Albans (approx start 6:15pm) to Amwell (Wheathampstead).  The route starts from St Albans suburbia and aims for a pub in a hamlet via a pub in a village.  The environment is pleasantly leafy, lending itself well to an evening walk.  This route includes 2 pub stops, which, by the nature of the event, are largely compulsory.  Hey ho.  Sorry about that.

There is an optional additional 5-mile walk from Amwell (Wheathampstead) to St Albans from 3:00pm.

The event is run as part of Pub Pride 2022. Pub Pride is an annual media event organised by Ask for Clive. Pub Pride is "a night for venues to celebrate their local LGBTQ+ community, and welcome Pride month in their home town." (https://pubprideshop.co.uk/).  This event aspires to be phenomenal evening for the LGBTQI+ community.

As with all media events, there are a set of speeches.  Speeches start at approx 5.45pm inside an Arts & Crafts church (which is to behold all by itself, a wonderful interior, very good for wine tastings).  E-tickets are required to enter the church for the speeches.  The expected running order of the speeches are:

  • Host: Danny Clare, Chairman of Trustees & Co-Founder, Ask For Clive
  • Fr Corniel Quak, Curate, St Saviour’s
  • Clive Duffey, Co-Founder, Ask For Clive
  • Steve Alison, Chief Inspector, Hertfordshire Police Diversity, Equality & Inclusion Team
  • Daisy Cooper, Member of Parliament for St Albans
  • Announcement of walk to 2 pubs celebrating Pub Pride led by GOC

A few more details about the route: depart time between 6:15 to 6:30 pm from the church via Bernard Heath before entering parklands and woodlands into leafy Hertfordshire to our first Pub Pride stop at the Rose and Crown in Sandridge for a refreshing beverage/pit stop before continuing via Nomansland to the peaceful hamlet of Amwell (Wheathampstead) for our destination the Farrs Brewery's Elephant and Castle whom will be waiting for us to celebrate Pub Pride with a beer they have prepared to celebrate 'PRIDE'

Local and National Media may be in attendance.

The organiser Khris will park his car at the end-point to start the optional additional walk from 3:00pm.  Khris is happy to drop individuals off at Harpenden/St Albans station or nearby villages.
