Greta Bridge and the Greta Gorge
From Greta Bridge we follow field paths passing the remains of the old St Mary's Church which was abandoned in 1833. After some more woodland and field walking we descend into the wooded gorge where we follow a narrow path along the river. We then climb out of the gorge to open fields where we will stop for lunch. Shortly afterwards we drop down to Brignal Mill, now a private house, and cross the river via a footbridge. The return leg is pretty much a repeat of the outward one with some tricky narrow path's through the woods and some climbs and descents before more field and a little road walking followed by more woods and fields to take us back to Greta Bridge.
The walk is listed as moderate but there are some tricky narrow paths through the woods.
