The North Wales GOC is a very active, very friendly group of gay men, lesbians, bi-sexuals of all ages. With over 100 members we engage in many activities. Although our main focus is walking, we also have offered abseiling, underground exploration, scrambling, and camping and youth hostel trips. We also hold pub social nights and other indoor socialising events.
Events are held across the large North Wales area from Snowdonia to the coastal strip, from Anglesey to the Clwydians.
This was a GOC first--a women only walking weekend.
Women are under represented in the Club so to try and encourage more women to get involved in their local groups, the trustees had approved a limited number of women only events, to try and address this issue....
The All Wales weekend for those who don't know, is a weekend away every September, organised in turn, by each the three groups in Wales, North Wales, South Wales and West Wales.
The three year turn around, comes around, really quickly and this year it was the turn of my group West Wales and we chose the very beautiful and (in my opinion) spiritual St David's....
The Glaslyn may not be one of the largest rivers in Wales, many will never have heard of it and those that have may well struggle to say where it is, but we think it is one of the best riverside walks going!
Starting in the picturesque village of Beddgelert our walk first headed to the famous Gelert's grave....
One of the joys of walking with the North Wales group is the sheer variety available in a relatively small area. A far cry from the mountain tops of a few weeks ago, the group returned to the picturesque Clywedog valley on the outskirts of Wrexham for a gentle stroll with some industrial heritage thrown in....
