West Kent – Leigh, Haysden, and Penshurst – 4th May, 2025.

This month's walk was from Leigh, near Tonbridge, taking in the Powdermills, Haysden, the Leigh flood barrier, and Penshurst Park and Place. A good turn-out, with three newcomers to the group, and Olive, the dog!

Wonderful views over the verdant green countryside, especially welcome was the sight of flowering wild garlic carpeting the woodland floors. A brief stop in Penshurst village to look around the historic village and in the church, before our return across wide field pathways back to Leigh.

As usual, drinks after, this time at The Fleur de Lis in the garden.

An excellent day with excellent company, thanks to everyone that joined us, especially thanks go to Graeme Brown and Nicholas Thompson for planning and leading the walk.

Colin Turner.
West Kent Co-ordinator.
