Today the sun shone on our walk after days of rain and wind. Fourteen hardy guys met at Chevening village, ready for the mud! Our first walk to adopt the 'History & Culture' category. Jeremy, our leader for the day, bought some printed history about Chevening House, currently used by the current Foreign Secretary as a weekend getaway.
It was a superb walk taking us from the village up into the North Downs to Knockholt where we stopped for lunch. A short walk along parts of the North Downs after lunch, before the slow descent back to Chevening with wide views of the Chevening estate and house, with trees displaying wonderful autumnal colours.
A short 5-mile walk meant we were back at the cars earlier than usual, then a short drive to nearby Chipstead where some of us had drinks at the Bricklayers' Arms. A lovely end to a magnificent day with wonderful guys, including one new member. Thanks to Jeremy Palmer for leading the walk.
