WED 16TH NOV 22 – WALLINGFORD

Hi Gang,

(Cheated with the pic. Wouldn't accept the pics I took - sorry).

With rain not very far in front or behind Paul guided us around the Saxon features of Wallingford.

Under the shelter of the Town Hall we slowly assembled, first seeing Nick D and his mate pass one direction. Then another ultimately on foot towards us.

A chance conversation with a lady involved an impromptu visit to the former Corn Exchange, now a thriving theatre - all run by volunteers.

Then skirting puddles we headed to the Saxon wall before crossing to the Wharf and River Thames. Missed St Barnabas Church due to a funeral, but into St Paul's before crossing the Mediaeval Bridge, only to walk back below, seeing the ancient structure.

Back to "The Old Post Office" for lunch and further conversation.

Some of us headed for the museum before those dependant on the bus to Oxford headed towards the stop under darkening skies.

Thanks again to Paul and Howard along with those prepared to travel some distance to join us.

Paul, Bill
