Despite the chilly weather, a group of 22, plus 2 dogs, assembled at the car park of the NT property, Upton House.
The weather forecast for our 9 mile walk on the Oxfordshire/Warwickshire border was not great, with intermittent showers forecast for most of the day.
As it turned out, although it wasn't particularly warm, it did stay dry for the first couple of hours, at least.
We set off at a brisk pace, just to make sure that nobody felt the chill of course.
After admiring the distant views from the top of the Edgehill escarpment, known locally as Old Lodge, we descended the hill to the village of Middle Tysoe, where we stopped for our coffee break under a beautiful cherry tree in full blossom, adjacent to the village church.
The sunny intervals kept us in good spirits as we climbed back up the escarpment on our way to the lunch stop.
At least the rain waited until we were at the top of the hill, but then a storm blew across the airfield and before we had much chance to take shelter we all got a good soaking.
Rather than hanging around for it to stop, and getting colder, we continued on to the lunch stop on Shenington village green.
Some huddled for warmth in the bus shelter, whilst others took refuge in the Bell Inn.
Of course it brightened up again after lunch, as we made our way up a beautiful valley and back along the escarpment to the car park.
I hope you all enjoyed the walk, it was a good turnout, and I hope that the 3 prospective new members will join us again soon.
