Plymouth Street Art – Sunday 7th Jan

The Devon GOC group enjoyed a bright winter’s day seeing some of the street art that has gone up around Plymouth city centre in the past few years.

There were 19 people including two guests with their dogs to join the five mile walk.

We started and ended at the cafe in Victoria park. The walk covered murals from @joegrenawayart, Mrs Murals and Plymouth Artists Together among many painted exchange boxes.

We walked through what is - not quite widely - known as Plymouth’s “queer district” in Bretonside where a number of LGBT businesses are located including night clubs, pubs and cafes and the queer book store. We also noted the proximity of LGBTQIA+ friendly businesses on the west side of the city in the Stonehouse area.

The Devon walking group usually enjoys the countryside and the moors, but our occasional walks in town and on paved surfaces also allow for some members to join who are less sure of foot. For a change we did not have to contend with muddy boots!

Many thanks to Roslynn for this report and for researching and leading such an interesting and unusual walk!
