With good luck on our side, the rainy week dried for us and we set off for our traditional New Year's Day walk without brollies! We had a good turn out. Our outward route was mostly through beech woods and we arrived at The Black Horse in Checkendon to enjoy our packed lunches as the pub was not serving food on New Years Day. But they were able to serve us drinks and we made full use of their outside tables. Bill kindly offered us all Turkish delight to sustain us for the rest of our walk. This had to be slightly modified because of muddy footpaths and partial flooding. An enjoyable day for all despite the grey skies! A big thank you for Andy and John who led the walk.
