Moel Tryfan… no, not that Tryfan, the smaller one with the nice views of the coast

North Wales, and Snowdonia in particular, is full of high peaks with stunning views.  The North Wales GOC group likes nothing more than a walk to such peaks; it's just a shame that whoever controls the British weather seems to think the same peaks are a great place to put low clouds.

Fortunately, as veterans of the Welsh weather, we had a Plan B.  The other great feature of North Wales, and Snowdonia in particular, is the abundance of slate quarries.  These provide both shelter and a unique environment of their own, not to mention some of the most stunningly blue lakes you will ever see.

Although we didn't hit the peaks, Moel Tryfan still gave some excellent coastal views and a great day out for the 12 walkers, and 12 month old Lexi!

Finishing off a great day was a visit to the Snowdonia Park Pub/Microbrewery - pub, brew their own beer and campsite… it even has it's own train station.  Sounds a plan to us!  Why haven't we had a camping weekend there yet?  Oh, and for all the Southerners… £2.80 a pint!
