Llyn y Fan Fawr

Jim led us on his favourite walk on this gorgeous July day.  It was one of the South Wales group’s most strenuous walks.  We ascended from the head of the Swansea Valley to Llyn y Fan Fawr and on to the ridge above.  We then followed the cliffs of Fan Hir down to Tafarn y Garreg (which is now closed sadly).  The steep climb rewarded us with spectacular views, of the Mynydd Du to the West and the Beacons to the East, over the Epynt range to the Malvern Hills and South towards the coastline of Gower and Carmarthen Bay.

Ar ddiwrnod godidog ym mis Gorffennaf, aeth Jim â ni ar ei hoff daith.  Dyma un o deithiau mwya’ egnïol grŵp De Cymru.  O ben ucha’ Cwm Tawe, dringom i Lyn y Fan Fawr, cyn esgyn i’r grib uwchben.  Dilynom greigiau serth Fan Hir i lawr at Dafarn y Garreg (sydd bellach ar gau yn anffodus).  Roedd yr ymdrech yn werth chweil, gan fod golygfeydd bendigedig o’r Mynydd Du i’r Gorllewin a’r  Bannau i'r Dwyrain, ar draws Mynydd Epynt at Fryniau Malvern ac i’r De at arfordir Penrhyn Gwyr a Bae Caerfyrddin.
