Hi Gang,
Weren't we lucky with the weather for our 8 mile wander attempting to keep the windmill in sight for as long as possible. Twelve "able bodied men" set out from GREAT MILTON - Past "Bull PH" which clearly wasn't going to be renovated in time for our visit.
A long N - S path heads for the former CHALGROVE AIR BASE - we followed to the first main W - E crossing points - heading for LITTLE MILTON - with the windmill shrinking behind us. Through a Nature Reserve we resumed our N - S path to meet the LITTLE HASELEY lane through the extended common, past interesting individual homesteads. By now the windmill was behind the great wood.
Our plan for the path to GREAT HASELEY was thwarted by flooding, so we stayed on the lane passing through the village.
At last, a glimpse of the windmill, now much closer, which we passed only to enter a new recently flooded area.
Several had to get off, the rest of us heading for the "Bat & Ball PH, CUDDESTON for a meal.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to an enjoyable day.
