We Met at Hollywood Bowling, a motley sort of Crew

To try for our sins to knock down the pins , and have a bit of a do

12 members from the Devon GOC group, all sorts in the mix

We separated into two lanes ,with two teams numbered six.

Neil headed one group, Steve in charge of the other

We came from far and wide to play and try and beat each other.

The games they were commencing, the balls bounced off the rail

Some had spares and some got strikes, and some rolls went and failed

We played two rounds that took two hours, some scored low,  some high

Declared the day successful before some said goodbye.

The rest we went for food and drink. Nexus cafe was the venue

Jacket spuds, Bakewell tart and toasted T cakes on the menu

We planned our next encounter November 13th was the date

With all the energy we expelled we’ll need Valium at this rate

But we always make sure we have fun, to laugh is such a tonic

Even if next day we declare, our backs are painfully chronic.
