Glastonbury Wildlife 27 Feb 2022

Glorious sunshine greeted the twelve members bound for Ham Wall, walking west from Glastonbury on the former Somerset and Dorset railway line, now a comfortable gravel path. The warm sunshine was great encouragement for the inaugural walk of the revived group. Along the path, small lakes, formed from past peat extraction, have become havens for wildlife with a great variety of birds, insects and vegetation. This is a truly glorious place for a walk and a chat. There was a request to make a return visit to view the spectacular murmuration (flocking of starlings at sunset) in the autumn, which is now being investigated.  The group’s next outing starts in Street to walk take in the views from the Polden Hills.
