A Circular Hayling Billy Trail Walk

On this beautiful 19th of April, 2026, seven of us gathered to enjoy a 7-mile circular walk around Hayling Island. The weather was perfect, with bright sunshine and a pleasantly refreshing breeze that kept us comfortable throughout the day.

We kicked things off at a car park along the Hayling Billy Trail. As we headed south, we were treated to wonderful views of the sea and Portsmouth to our right. After some time, we turned inland toward West Town, where we took a short break at St Mary’s Church.

From there, we continued our journey heading back north. We walked through a vibrant field of yellow rapeseed, which looked stunning in the sun, before navigating a short stretch along the main road. Soon after, we joined the King Charles III England Coast Path, taking us along the east side of the island while the tide was high, and leading us past the grounds of several beautiful, luxurious-looking homes.

As we pressed on heading north, our path cut through the graveyard at St Peter’s Church and bordering a large field. We were lucky enough to spot a herd of deer grazing there. Finally, we made our way to the petrol station near the island’s entrance for a well-deserved picnic. We took a group photo to remember the day before beginning our return journey south along the Hayling Billy Trail, eventually arriving back at the car park to conclude our trek.

To round off the day, some members indulged in an ice cream treat at the van at the car park before driving home.
