Eighteen GOC members decided to celebrate the 50th Birthday of the GOC in style with a cruise down the Exeter Canal and River Exe - complete with an on board Devon cream tea!
Although raining as we set sail the afternoon soon turned drier and we were able to take in lovely views from the upper deck of the 'Pride of Exmouth'.
As well as enjoying the beautiful countryside we sailed through locks, passed beside swing bridges and held up traffic as the road bridge over the canal was raised for us to pass through!
Eventually emerging into the estuary of the Exe we followed the meandering deep water channel until eventually docking in Exmouth.
We suspect that over the years on various walks the GOC has covered on foot all the ground we passed between Exeter and Exmouth but not until now from 'on the water'!
