How are your Navigation skills?
If you've have been wondering about that, here at GOC Towers things are in the pipeline.
Chris Loy is leading an ‘Introduction to Navigation’ walk on 2 November. This is full, but… we want to meet the clear demand for events that include some training and practice, so giving newer and existing members the knowledge and skills they need to lead events. We aim to show you how to create a suitable walk, during sociable basic awareness and refresher events. After all, every leader has to start somewhere.
Maybe you are feeling more ambitious. If so, how about navigation skills training, including compass work? This is also being planned - with external tuition funded by the GOC.
Of course, no-one's expecting GOC leaders to try to summit Mount Everest – although it was a hundred years ago when a gay mountaineer attempted this very feat, George Mallory: Olympic Gold medalist and self-proclaimed homosexualist who coined the famous phrase Why? Because it's there.
So, what's stopping you? Also, if you're an experienced leader who can help contribute to these workshops, let us know
