A touch of History & Culture helped warm up Exeter `s January, as Devon Group's Blue Plaque walk (all 19 of them!) achieved a double figure turn-out. Herts group's second annual visit to London – for LGBT History month - also sold-out, with a few risqué statues adding to the interest
Down in Gloucestershire Joe Meek, the world` first `pop` producer has one outside his parents house in Newent. It mentions that iconic hit Telstar – Maggie Thatcher's favourite pop record. Whether his blonde bombshell Heinz met his parents there for tea, we shall never know.
Perhaps you have some LGBTQI+ related plaques down your way? Help is available if you'd like to put something together yourself. Devon group went on to run a Plymouth street art walk, so as URBEX takes off (that's Urban Exploration to the uninitiated) you might soon be looking up as well as down. And of course, if the rain is getting to you, street scenes have more cafes to choose from too.
