A circular walk starting in Shoreham, heading along the River Darent to Eynsford whilst enjoying lovely scenery.

Returning leg is half on road, across a golf course, then and up and over through woodlands.  The decent is quite steep and could be slippery in February.

Shoreham: Not mentioned in the Domesday Book BUT in 1668 cricket was mentioned in a court case as being played at Shoreham. Also known as an area for smuggling. Heavily bombed during the Second World War for unclear reasons; the army took over several houses for operational use and there was a dummy airfield in Lullingstone.

Lullingstone Castle: the historic manor house has been home of the Hart Dyke family for twenty generations. The outer gatehouse is from the 16th century and the house has been remodeled over the centuries. The park contains some of the oldest oak trees in Britain.

Lullingstone Roman Villa: due to reopen in April 2024 but worth having a look through the viewing window.  The 1963 building has deteriorated causing flooding, humidity and temperature issues.

Eynsford: first mentioned in writing in 864. In 1801 the village had the highest population in the Dartford area at 841 persons. Very picturesque with it's ford, hump-back bridge, pub, mill and church.
