A 40 mile cycle ride to Kippen, Fintry and The Carron Valley
We will ride from the University out westward above the River Teith to Doune, then continuing to Thornhill. From here the route will turn south and cross the River Forth to Kippen where there is a possible café stop (there is café and pub in the village) and on to Fintry, nestling between the Campsie Fells and the Fintry/ Gargunnuck Hills. From Fintry a turn eastwards takes us up to Carron Valley Reservoir and then a climb to skirt Earl's Hill before dropping back to Stirling at Bannockburn and the University.
While not a flat cycle ride, there are no particular hills of note on the ride, depending on how much skirting of Earl's Hill is done (there are a couple of options of hilly or less hilly but slightly longer here.)
The ride is on B roads and minor roads on the whole. There will inevitably be some crossing of busy A roads and some very short sections of riding on A roads.
