This is a 7 mile approx. moderate walk in Pontrhydyfen.
A beautiful village boasting a lovely viaduct and an aqueduct.
Richard Burton was born here (also Bronwen Evans opera singer and Ivor Emmanuel actor and singer )and 2025 is the centenary year of Richard's birth.
Several photo's and murals and information boards are dotted around the village in celebration.
The walk starts in the centre of the village and proceeds down a cycle track to some sculptures including Richard Burton and Rob Brydon who was born in nearby
Baglan.
There is then a steady climb onto Foel Fynyddau (370m) with fantastic views from the top.
We then descend through the forestry and onto a tramway back to Pontrhydyfen.
On route we will view some murals and the family grave of his father, mother and sister and which mentions Richard.
***If the weather is very wet or misty with no views, we will do a lower level walk in the same area
and not go onto Foel Fynydd.
