For one of our Tuesday walk options of GOC goes to Sitges 2025, new for this year, we offer a moderate 7.5 mile linear route from the charming, historic village of Olivella, through the Garraf Natural Park and back down to Sitges from the north. The route mostly follows the GR5 long-distance trail, and is well sign-posted. For more photos, taken (in the rain) in May 2025, see Google Photos.
After a short time to explore old Olivella, we start along the GR5 route from below the Ajuntament. After about an hour, we diverge from the GR5 in order to take in the ruins of the abandoned village of Jafre, and then Masia de Fassina, where we will take our lunch stop at the coffee shop El Punt at around 12.30. Drinks and sandwiches are available to buy here until 3pm (tbc).
From here we return to the GR5 and follow it down to the the car park at the entrance to the Garraf Natural park from Sitges. Then we descend into Sitges by the same route as with our Ermita de la Trinita walk - about 45 minutes of reasonably gradual decline down narrow forest trails to a little industrial park at on the outskirts of Sitges or, for those that wish, a shorter and easier 30 minutes or so down the surfaced road.
We then cross under the highway and down into Sitges through the district of Poble Sec, where we end the walk at Plaza de Catalunya - just above the railway line and about 5 minutes walk from the old town.
After the walk there will be an option to go for a drink together. The Sitgetana Brewery craft beer tap room, which we pass on the way back into Sitges, is unfortunately closed on Tuesdays.
Bookings are now open - please book as early as possible and by Friday 17 October at the latest. Tickets costing £12.50 will be limited to 20, for the hired minibus to Olivella.
