A four miles nature walk to find Chalk Downs Autumn flowering orchids and gentians. The route will take us up Newtimber Hill just north of Brighton.
We hope to find Autumn Gentians along the sheep tracks halfway down the west facing slope of Newtimber Hill. With 182m of ascent and descent this is a moderate walk, albeit at a leisurely pace. Autumn Lady's tresses and Rampion ("The Pride of Sussex") are flowering across the A23 on Wolstonbury Hill in late August this year. It would be lovely to find both on Newtimber Hill. We can enjoy an optional coffee break at https://wayfieldparkfarmshop.co.uk/ near the end of the walk.
Wear clothes appropriate for the weather and terrain and bring drinks and snacks as necessary. New members are always welcome - there is a free no commitment four month trial option. See https://www.goc.org.uk/shop/membership/. Any enquiries contact [email protected].
