This lovely walk passes Ightham Mote and the dramatic and very large Knole House (both National Trust). The palace is set in an attractive deer park.
The walk starts in Borough Green and goes south through woods and along streams to the old village of Plaxtol with its Cromwellian church. Then through the park of Fairlawne House to Ightham Mote, where we can get a view of this beautiful moated medieval manor.
The route onwards is up a bridleway, through orchards and alongside a new lavender farm and along shaded woodland paths leading to the 1,000-acre Knole Park and its 365-roomed Knole House, then up by footpaths to Sevenoaks, where there are many opportunities for refreshments.
Sevenoaks railway station lies a 15-minute walk downhill along London Road from the town centre.
