Dollar Glen and King's Seat Hill
A hill walk from the small pretty town of Dollar, about 12 miles (30 minutes drive) from the university. The walk climbs through the narrow defile of Dollar Glen with its bridges, waterfalls and a castle at its head, before emerging on the open hillside and climbing quite steeply to the summit of Bank Hill. From there, the gradient eases somewhat, but it is still quite a long climb to the summit of King's Seat at 648 metres. Its down hill from here, dropping into the Glen of Sorrow, which we follow back down to Dollar Glen and Castle Campbell (there is charge for entry if you wish to visit).
About 7 miles (12km) (about 4-6 hours). Max elevation 648 meters. This is a hill walk so it could be cold on the summits, good boots, waterproof jacket and trousers, hat and gloves may be needed.
