This is a six mile easy to moderate circular walk through a mixture of wooded sections, tarmacked roads, and compacted gravel tracks, with only two kissing gates and no styles.
Initially the route runs through Brynna woods, which has several old colliery sites and wildlife, and then crosses the main Swansea to Cardiff railway line, which has a red/green light crossing system, before looping around the old Llanharan open cast site and Dragon Studio's back through the village of Bryncae, to the end point.
Obviously, as the weather in February could be wet, muddy and possibly snowy under foot, appropriate footwear and clothing is essential.
Garry and Mark kindly welcome walkers back to their house after the walk for a bowl of Garry's hot beef stew with bread, and possibly some cakes!
Unfortunately no dogs will be allowed back to the house, as their elderly dog will be at home. The house is about 400 metres from the start point, so cars will not need to be moved.
