Brig O'Turk and Finglas Woods
A walk in The Trossachs through Finglas Woods visiting the the village of Brig O'Turk with fine views of Ben Ledi and the surrounding mountains and lochs.
The walk is a circular walk through the woods near Brig O'Turk on waymarked paths. There is an option just off the route to visit the John Ruskin viewpoint above the River Turk. John Ruskin spent some time in the Trossachs during the summer and autumn of 1853, painting with his wife and Pre-Raphaelite friends; there is a viewpoint of a waterfall which he painted a short distance off the main route.
There is a good café for refreshments in Brig O'Turk, about a mile from the finish of the walk so take some money with you.
About 6 miles (10km) (about 3 - 4 hours). There is an option to shorten the route further to about 5 miles (c7km) if necessary. The walk has been simplified and is now graded Moderate.
