This is a joint Cambridgeshire/ Norfolk walk.
This easy 7.5 mile walk is based on a West Harling Circular route (a national trail) in a quiet part of Breckland. The walk is mainly within deciduous and coniferous forest and so is well protected from any March winds. The area is almost flat with some very gentle slopes.
The paths are good and wide in general with only a couple of potentially muddy areas. There are 2 stiles to negotiate.
The walk starts from the small village of Bridgham and follows part of the beautiful Thet valley which contains wetlands, reedbeds and. hopefully. a good range of birdlife. We then use a short section of the historic Peddars Way (Roman Road) and then cross an open section before re-entering forest for lunch near a couple of tumuli.
The walk continues through varying forest until the remote church of West Harling appears and from there we return to Bridgham.
