A new year's walk taking in the fantastic views and scenery of Beachy Head on this 8.5 mile circular route. Expect some ascents and descents.
The walk begins with a steep climb to head north on the inland (bridleway) section of the South Downs Way, past Black Robin Farm and then leaving the South Downs Way shortly after crossing the A259 at the Golf Clubhouse. We then head west in the direction of East Dean. Crossing the A259 again we then head south via Cornish Farm eventually meeting the coast road near Belle Tout Lighthouse. The rest of the walk goes east along the clifftops on the South Downs Way, climbing up to 530 feet at Beachy Head and then descending down to our starting point. The distance will be about 8.5 miles with a total ascent of 370 metres.
Wear clothes appropriate for the weather and terrain. Much of the route is on exposed clifftops so potentially rather windy. Dogs are welcome if kept on leads whenever near livestock, on roads or if requested by the walk leader. New members are always welcome. There is a free no commitment four month trial - see https://www.goc.org.uk/shop/membership/. Any enquiries contact [email protected].
