NOTE CHANGE OF PLAN - A gentle wander around the "Cotswold Stone" Market Town of BAMPTON, West Oxon - which I discover DOWNTON ABBEY filming of the outdoor scenes took place.

We will start, as a good excuse at looking at the vernacular architecture of the Town, "The Downton Mile" a trail around that part of the town used for the filming.

To ensure we get a "bit of a walk in the country - we will explore the higher ground to Weald, RAF BAMPTON Castle. The route via Black Bourton, Clanfield gets waterlogged very quickly - something for summer months.

We make our progress, courtesy of a local small holder - to pass through his property,  to reach Bampton Garden Centre for a drink, light food.

Our final return to the church, either along the street footpath, past the "Grand Houses" or if you prefer the back route across the ford (bridge) back into Town.
