Our annual post Christmas breezer is taking place on Sunday this year, to avoid a clash with Andrew Walker's walk around Oxford also annual on Saturday, which some people might be interested in attending. It should help to burnĀ a few of the extra calories that we may have consumed during the Christmas period!
The easily graded walk runs through the large areas of green space in Central London's with loads of historic interest en route. We start at Charing Cross station, then pass successively through St James's Park, Green Park and then Hyde Park and its neighbour Kensington Gardens. We then have a section of road walking through the streets of the Paddington area to reach Little Venice and the Regent Canal. We make a detour off the canal to visit our 5th Royal Park of the day, before crossing to Primrose Hill and the only real hill of the walk. Its high point has excellent views over London, making an appropriate end to the walk. Primrose Hill is only a short walk from Chalk Farm tube station. Given the cold weather that we have been having, please wrap up suitably bearing in mind that we will be having a lunch break.
