Although now bypassed, Mattishall remains a large, busy village with a medieval suburb at Mattishall Burgh and is surrounded by gently undulating countryside with plenty of trees. The walk is on tracks and footpaths across the fields and along part of the valley of the little river Tud, but we can use some quiet lanes to avoid the mud if the weather is bad on the day. Only four churches to see so we should be back in time for tea at Mattishall tea-shop.
