Stuchd an Lochain and Meall Buidhe

This walk is cancelled because of the weather

Stuchd an Lochain and Meall Buidhe are two Munros rising either side of Loch an Daimh at the western end of Glen Lyon. Both Munro peaks offer fine views from their summits over Rannoch and Loch an Daimh.

Both hills are straightforward and because of the altitude of the car park at around 400m, the amount of climbing necessary to reach the summits is not great.  Meall Buidhe is an easy Munro and can be climbed on its own (up and down) in about 3 hours

The route involves a mix of paths and it may be boggy in some places. A 10 mile (16km) circuit with c1100 metres of climbing, about 6-7 hours.  There are options to cut the walk short if necessary as the route returns to the car park after climbing the Meall Buidhe, before climbing Stucdh an Lochain.

People intending to take part in this event should read GOC's document Safety in the Hills.
