The walk takes us North, around the Benyon's Enclosure, part of the 14,000 acre Englefield Estate, home of the Benyon family for many generations.  This important site for Nature Conservation contains pockets of Ancient Woodland, including rare Alder swamp forest, heath, and dry, acid farmland.  The Estate invests in modern Forestry equipment to improve efficiency, and to market sustainably managed timber.

Along the route, we pass along the edge of Calleva Atrebatum, an Iron Age settlement, capital of the Atrebates tribe, and later the Roman Town in the province of Britannia.
