Dartmouth Park and Sandwell Valley Country Park

Rather than finding their way down country lanes to the start point for the latest Western Midlands Group walk those attending had to do battle with one way systems to find the Primark car park.  Within a few minutes of starting the walk the locals and a couple of visitors from South Midlands found themselves in Dartmouth Park with its impressive War Memorial, bandstand and boating lake.  They proceeded to Sot’s Hole nature reserve for more familiar woodland walking, then on to Sandwell Valley for lakes and bird life. The RSPB centre had thoughtfully provided benches and tables for the lunch stop, sadly the coffee machine was broken! After lunch the group visited the ruins of Sandwell Priory/Hall.  After walking around several of the pools which provided fish for the Priory the group recrossed the M5 and made their way back to the start point.
