S. Mids - Kenilworth – Castle Circular
A castle, an old Cromwellian camp site, some ruins, an disused railway and possibly some virgins at the end!
A later start for today’s walk (11:30) to give those members who want to visit the Castle a chance to do so and we will pick them up at the castle on the way around.
We shall wind our way through old Kenilworth and to the castle. Back through Abbey Fields and on to Parliament Piece (where Cromwell’s men camped) and into Crackley Wood.
From there onto the former Kenilworth to Berkswell Railway which is now the Greenway leading us to Kenilworth Common.
A short walk along Finham Brook brings us back to Abbey Fields.
There are several hostelries in the area the closest to the finish being the Virgins & Castle or there is a Wetherspoons a 10-minute walk – The Dictum of Kenilworth.
